Fiber Artist Maura Donegan and poet, performer, and playwright Daemond Arrindell explore the intersections between poet and artist through their collaborative artwork featured in BIMA’s Fiber 2020 group exhibition titled Handmade Tale.

About the Artists

Maura Donegan (Redmond) creates monochromatic lace cloth grids in the historical tradition. She was born and raised in Ireland having learned her skill from the women in her family — Maura honors the legacy of family in her work with embroidered words that evoke memories and story. Donegan has degrees in design, embroidery, quilting and fiber art having studied in Ireland, England and the University of Washington.

Daemond Arrindell is a writer, performer and teaching artist. He is  a Jack Straw Writer and a VONA Writer’s Workshop fellow; has written for City Arts, Specter, Crosscut, Poetry NorthWest, Seattle Review of Books; and co-adapted  T. Geronimo Johnson’s acclaimed novel “Welcome To Braggsville,” into a stage production for Book-It Repertory Theater. In 2019, he performed his first one-man show, “Frozen Borders,” a performative exploration in imagery, poetry and emotion on the subject of the United States’ southern border.
