Dorothea Lange: Grab A Hunk of Lightning – smARTfilms: Artfilms
Past Event
This extraordinary film was broadcast in 2014 as part of the PBS American Masters series. Directed and narrated by Lange’s granddaughter with cinematography by Dyanna Taylor, the film paints an intimate portrait of one of America’s most brilliant, iconic, yet often unknown photographers. Lange’s images that documented Depression-era poverty, the Dust Bowl, and WWII Japanese American Internment camps are deeply imprinted on the American psyche, and her impact and stature garnered a retrospective at MOMA in 1966.
