James W. Washington, Jr. Retrospective
A survey of work by celebrated African American painter and sculptor James W. Washington, Jr. An influential member of the Northwest School, the artist was prominent in the Seattle art community, was a spokesman for civil rights, and turned his home into a community center for artists. Washington’s works are represented in more than 600 private and public collections, including The Smithsonian, the Whitney, SFMOMA, and the Seattle Art Museum.
