Art in Action at KRL

Calling all teens who LOVE art and want to hang out and learn about new techniques. Join us on the first Saturday of each month at the Kitsap Regional Library’s Bainbridge Island branch to learn about different mediums and create projects guided by a Bainbridge Island Museum of Art Educator.

February 1: Basquiat Crowns

March: Photo Books – Inspired by the EXPOSURE exhibition, in partnership with the Bainbridge History Museum

April: Haiku Comics – In honor of National Poetry Month and inspired by the Power of the Presses exhibition

May: Painting a Mini Canvas – Inspired by art of the African diaspora in the Radiant Reflections exhibition

June: Turkish Fold Maps – Inspired by the Power of the Presses exhibition

Wood block snowflake cards on the provisional press – Come be inspired by the winter weather by creating your own snowflake print holiday card!

1/4/25 Saturday 10am–12pm

Scratchboard drawing – Come and try your hand at making a scratchboard drawing — a type of direct engraving where an artist uses sharp tools to scratch away a dark ink layer on a surface to reveal a lighter color underneath.

2/1/25 Saturday 2:30pm–4:30pm

Basquiat Crowns – Celebrate Black History Month and an amazing Black artist by making a colorful, unique Jean-Michel Basquiat-inspired crown!
