Blizzard Books Workshop
Past Event

The blizzard book is an elegant, folded structure with endless opportunities to be creative with size and style, and even pages that can be rearranged after the book is completed! Designed for confident beginner or intermediate learners.

Carrie Larson (she/her), a visual artist living in Hoquiam, Washington, studied at Whitman College under Keiko Hara. There she was introduced to Book Arts, which became the springboard for all permutations of her art-making. While much of her work takes inspiration from the natural world, her artist’s books often explore an internal, emotional landscape as well. Their tactile, intimate qualities enhance a connection with the viewer/reader and concept drives form. Carrie’s work has been exhibited nationally, published in Lark Crafts 500 Handmade Books, Volume 2 and is held in various university libraries, as well as the artist book collection of Cynthia Sears at Bainbridge Island Museum of Art. During stints as artist-in-residence at Holden Village and Sitka Center for Art & Ecology, Carrie taught workshops to individuals new to the bookmaking experience; her aim is to foster an environment of supportive encouragement and provide solid building blocks that students can use as foundations for their own creative explorations.
